New Terms of Entry for Returning During Covid-19 Alert Level 2

SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES: Adults dropping off children will need to maintain a 1m social distance from others. Only one adult and their child/children (current centre children only) will be able to be access the centre at any one time. School aged children will not be able to access the building, or grounds. If there is a queue, please remain in your car, until a safe distance from others can be maintained.

During the day, activities and experiences will be set out in a way to encourage as much distancing as possible. Mealtimes will be staggered, reducing the number of children in any one area at a time. The team will ensure that our usual fun centre environment and daily programme is maintained as much as possible within safe practices.

HEALTH CHECKS: Temperature checks may be required upon entering the centre. If there are any health concerns,  staff and children will have their temperatures checked before entering the rooms. Anyone with a temperature of 37.8 or above will not be allowed to enter the centre, until the temperature is able to be managed without medication for a minimum of 24 hours.

Anyone displaying higher temperatures should contact Healthline without delay on 0800 358 5453 for their next steps.

NO ENTRY IF SYMPTOMATIC: If any team member, parent or child feels or displays any of the COVID 19 symptoms as stated on the Ministry of Health website:

  • a cough
  • a high temperature (at least 38°C)
  • shortness of breath.
  • sore throat
  • sneezing and runny nose
  • temporary loss of smell,

they will not be permitted to enter the centre. See guidelines here: https://covid19.govt.nz/.

If any parent starts to feel any of the COVID 19 symptoms while at work during the day, and if there is no other pickup option for the child, they must call the centre on 827 7833 to arrange an alternative way of collecting their child.  This will involve one of the Playhouse team signing the child out on their behalf and bringing them and their bag to meet you in the carpark. Strict social distancing will need to be maintained if this should occur. The parent should then contact Healthline on 0800 358 5453, for their next steps.

OTHER HEALTH CONCERNS: If adults or children are displaying any other signs of illness, they will be sent home immediately, or isolated in the office until they can be collected with urgency. We will have a zero tolerance to illness in the centre.

HAND WASHING: We encourage everyone to wash their hands thoroughly before leaving home each day and for parents, again when leaving their workplace. Handwashing will be promoted and encouraged throughout the day at Playhouse.

Both alcohol-based, and alcohol-free sanitisers will be readily available for use within the centre. Everybody who enters the centre will be required to use this. Parents will need to help their own child to thoroughly sanitise their hands before handing them over to one of the Playhouse team.

DROPPING YOUR CHILD OFF: Parents will enter through the front gate, ring the doorbell and then take a big step back towards the entry gate. One of the Playhouse team will open the door for you. You and your child will be greeted in the foyer area where you will complete the hand sanitising and sign in requirement. Your child will then be able to say their goodbyes and head off with the team member through to their room to settle. No parent will be allowed past the foyer area at any time during level 2. We understand that some children might be a bit unsettled at this time when it comes to separating from their parents after the lockdown period. The team will be able to advise on measures we have in place for best practice under the current circumstances. Please be mindful of maintaining social distancing measures between yourselves and the team at all times.

Parents will sign in, as usual, on the tablet in the foyer area. Parents are also required to also clearly print their name as this will be used for contact tracing if required.

COLLECTION OF YOUR CHILD: This will be a reverse version of the drop off routine. Parents will not be allowed to enter the rooms to collect their child. Instead, they need to ring the doorbell, or call from the carpark, and we will bring your child and their belongings down to you in the foyer. Again, please use the provided hand sanitiser as soon as you enter the foyer, before signing your child out on the tablet as usual. Once again, please make sure social distancing measures are maintained between yourselves, and the Playhouse team at all times.

Please be aware that due to our new procedures, dropping off and picking up your child may take longer than it has done in the past.
Please make allowances for these procedures to take place. Be patient, be kind.

BUBBLE SIZES: Bubbles are no longer required while in the centre. However to maintain the level of protection for the children and the staff, we will not be allowing any parent beyond the foyer area into the rooms. If you wish to speak with a teacher directly, we encourage organising this with them (during pick up and drop offs) or make a time that is convenient for you to call or email.

RESOURCES: These will only be available for use if they are able to be easily cleaned and sanitised. Other equipment and surfaces will be sanitised regularly throughout the day.

CANCELLATION OF ENROLMENT: If any parent is found negligent, or puts our community at risk by failing to comply with Playhouse rules and/or Ministry of Health guidelines, then their enrolment at the centre will be cancelled and we may be required to report them to the Ministry of Health.

NO ENTRY FOR VISITORS: Unless essential work is required to be undertaken. All deliveries to the centre will need be left outside the front door.

NO ENTRY FOR WALK-INS: We will not be allowing walk-ins/centre visits, other than for currently enrolled or pre-enrolled children, for the foreseeable future.

NO EXCURSIONS: We have postponed all centre excursions for the foreseeable future to eliminate contact with strangers or unclean surfaces.
